A FATHER'S VISIT

Prophet E. Appiah-Agyekum
Only few people have played as many pivotal roles in my christian life and upbringing as Prophet Ebenezer Appiah-Agyekum. Called into the COP Pastoral Ministry in 1972, he was first posted toWenchi in the Brong-Ahafo Region of Ghana. In 1980 he was transferred to Yendi in the Northern Region where I had also been serving as a School Teacher and had been converted and joined COP the previous year.

It was during his time as District Pastor of Yendi that I was ordained Deacon of the Church in 1980, and Elder in 1981. He officiated at our wedding in 1982 and was the one who recommended my candidature into the Pastoral Ministry in 1984. He officiated at my Farewell Service and released me into full-time pastoral ministry.

Isn't it amazing? A real spiritual father, isn't he

He tells of his delight when I joined him in the Pastoral Ministry and as he saw the hand of God upon me, lifting me through the ranks to the high office of Chairman of COP after only fourteen years of pastoral service. He has followed my progress at every stage with keen spiritual binoculars and alacrity. Our battles were his battles and our victories, his.

When he heard of my indisposition, he joined other concerned people across the globe to pray for me. In addition he has endeavored to visit me every year from Ghana. On this particular visit he arrived on 20th June and has continued to intercede on our behalf.

Prophet Ebenezer Appiah-Agyekum, COP Area Head of Kwadaso, Kumasi, now aged 64, will retire from active service next year with many laurels in God's Kingdom. In COP, his enviable record of having one of his spiritual sons joining him in the Pastoral Ministry and rising to become Chairman of his church while he himself remains in the ministry, will remain unbeaten for many more years to come.

Like many others however, his greatest desire is to see me on my feet again, doing Kingdom Business.
O LORD, let this happen---soon.

  1. My dear Apostle Dr. M. K. Ntumy, your blessings will never cease nor your grace, for there are no many people in this world who will cast their mind back to and remember upon the one's whose shoulders they climb to a higher height. Through out your walk into the vineyard of God and your calling into the Ministry, Prophet E. Appiah-Agyekum has lay his prophetic hands upon you in every milestone of your life and you have truly also be a good steward even upon your Chairmanship position in the most and largest African Church of the world, you have always cast that shadow of recognition upon this Father of yours. God shall never cease to bless you for your stance. May God heal you, strengthen you and uplift you in all things godly in Jesus Mighty name, amen.

    1. Dear Elder Atto Kum,
Your blessings are profuse and I receive them with open hands. Acknowledging those who have played important roles in our lives should be seen as a sine qua non. Putting it philosophically, I would say that one who forgets his roots destroys his fruits.

    2. "One who forgets his roots destroys his fruits," what a profound statement from my father, Apostle Dr Ntumy. We deeply love you, Chairman, for the seeds you planted in many of us who were blessed to hear your voice preach, and still read your books. Your God is a huge God. I still listen to your sermons from 1998.

And for Prophet Appiah-Agyekum, what a spiritual father, man of God and prophet you are. You saw a huge tree growing uncontrollably in a young man in 1980, and saw that God had a generation for him to lead. Our Papas, we love you and pray that God will continue to bless you and your families.

  4. Christians believe that God has reasons for all He does, as the good book makes us understand. What happened to John the baptist for instance, where Jesus could have saved the situation but decided not to. I have come to understand that I do no t understand why God sometimes does what he does, but I know it is to give us a prosperous end. I have never until now, gathered courage to make any public statement on your ordeals, infact I checked Dad, Proph Appiah Agyekum, in at the airport and saw him off to boarding gate, on his way to Germany but still could not said a word through him to you, not because of anything but the only reason that I for one have been so broken hearted such that I leave any scene that has individuals or group of persons discussing your condition. In all this there is one thing I have learnt, that there is no one who can stand and jump higher than going down before jumping. Seing you now gives all the confidence that you went down but now in the process of jumping, and you are going to jump so higher that the whole world cannot comprehend the kratos that is operating in you. I am glad to be part of the Appiah Agyekum family and also to have you as a senior brother and the chairman of this great Church of God. As Americans will say, "you ain't see nothing yet..." I also thank God for the life of my Dad, Prophet Appiah Agyekum, the longest serving minister of the Church of Pentecost.

  5. The steps of a righteous man is ordered by the Lord. After a tedious Kingdom assignment, one of the ways to rest is to stay off our feet. It is not beyond the creator of all feet to issue the command for His son of favor to arise, leap, walk, and ran again. Resting is so important for the Most High God that he devoted a whole day and sanctified it for all to experience. When the Sabbath day is past for you, dear dad, and the first day approach, the creator of all things would raise you up again to seperate the light from darkness as He did on the first day. We love you and praying for you.

    1. Dear Henry,
True, we see the hand of God in this situation of mine. If He has allowed it, then it definitely is for a purpose. We shall see His glory and praise Him together.

  6. Indisputably, gallant men of God have reached higher heights with no mean achievements. We are proud of you Dad Appiah Agyekum for your zealous love for Christ and humanity. You will remember that wherever you have pastored, you have left indelible marks of the presence of God in man such that no one could definitely deny the power of God in your ministrations. I as a pastor was brought up in the fear of God under your feet. I am also forever grateful to God for your life even as you also pass through life's challenges for forty years now. I remember you told us about the accidents you had as that of my senior brother and father Aps. M.K Ntumy. I am using his forum to express my heartfelt gratitude to you and to my mum Mama Comfort for your care to us as we grew. Aps M.K, may you forever remain dear to us. Surely you are an overcomer. To Seth, please we know that the righteous faces so many tribulations, but the Lord delivers him from all. Stay blessed.

    1. Prophet Appiah-Agyekum is a great mentor who has raised many men and women of God. We owe it a duty to God to live up to such virtues and in turn, mentor our own "Timothys" and "Tituses"

  7. MAY GOD BLESS THE PROPHET FOR WHAT GOD IS DOING TRUE HIM AND MAY HE CONTINUE TO IMPART GIFTS AND DIVINE PROVISIONS,
WE KNOW THAT HE WILL BY ALL MEANS HAVE SOMEBODY TO HANDOVER THE MANTLE OF THE OFFICE OF PROPHET TO, THOUGH THERE ARE PROPHETS IN THE CHURCH BUT AS ELIJAH HANDOVER THE MANTLE TO ELISHA EVEN THUOGH THERE WERE YOUNG PROPHETS IN THAT TIME,

TO SEE SOMEBODY YOU HAVE DISCIPLED DOING WELL IN THE KINGDOM BUSINESS AND EVEN ON TOP WHERE YOU COULD NOT REACH SHOULD GIVE YOU SOME JOY AND HAPPINESS.

  8. I have had the opportunity to listen to Prophet Agyekum, and he really inspired me. He preached the gospel using his own life as an example which motivated me to cast my burden upon God for he knows me wholly. I never got the chance to meet you(Apostle Ntumi),but I was always blessed by your sermons on Pentecost hour. I am currently pursuing graduate studies in the US and those sermons keep playing in my head especially during difficult times. All the leaders are in my prayers as I wouldn't be where I am today without your sacrificial services to the body of Christ.i would be very grateful to establish contact with Prophet Agyekum. God bless you....Francis Bugyei(Kwadaso south area,Atwima amanfrom district)
